For this home in Oegstgeest, we carried out a complete renovation of the dormer window. The existing roofing had seen better days, and upon opening the structure, it became apparent that the old roof boarding was also damaged in several places. To make the dormer window fully watertight and future-proof again, a complete reconstruction was chosen, consisting of new underlayment, a new bitumen underlay, and a durable top layer.
The photos clearly show how the existing roofing was completely removed, after which the roof was reduced to its structure. Subsequently, the new roof decking was installed and the entire roof structure was rebuilt for a long-lasting and reliable result.
New roof structure and high-quality roofing
After removing the old materials, the dormer was fitted with new underlayment panels. This created a strong and flat base for the new roofing. Next, we applied a bitumen underlay, after which the top layer was carefully torched and fully finished.
The connections along the upstands, the edges, and the transition to the tiled roof have also been refinished. These details in particular are important to minimize the risk of leaks and to achieve a durable watertight connection.
Careful execution
During the work, safety was maintained using the proper equipment and materials. Thanks to the photos, it is clearly visible how each phase of the renovation was carried out: from removing the old roofing and replacing the roof decking to installing the new bitumen roofing layers and the neat finishing of the edges.
By renewing the entire structure, not only has the lifespan of the dormer been significantly extended, but the construction is also once again optimally protected against moisture, rain, and other weather influences.
Result
Upon completion, the home in Oegstgeest once again features a completely renovated dormer with a solid roof structure and a sleekly finished bitumen roof covering. Thanks to the new underlayment, the base layer, and the durable top layer, the dormer is protected for years to come and ready for all weather conditions.
